Neymar (31 years old) has received the verdict for his knee injury suffered during Brazil’s defeat to Uruguay (0-2).

Examinations revealed a “ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and a torn meniscus in the left knee,” according to the Brazilian Football Federation.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player will need to undergo surgery and will be sidelined from the field for several months. This injury represents a significant setback for the player, who had recently returned to competition after an absence of about six months.

“It’s a very sad moment, the worst,” he wrote. “I know I am strong, but this time, I will need my family and friends even more,” he added. “I have a lot of faith… But I put my strength in God’s hands so that He can renew mine. Thank you for the messages of support and affection.”
