Eden Hazard defends Ligue 1: the Belgian responds to Cristiano Ronaldo’s criticisms.

A few days ago, Cristiano Ronaldo criticized Ligue 1. Almost without reason. Criticisms that did not sit well with Eden Hazard, who enjoyed success at Lille. “I disagree with him, but it’s just an opinion. The fact is that today, if you look at the Saudi Arabian league, there are great players. But they are not great teams,” supported the player who was trained at Lille.

“In France, there may be fewer great players, but they form more of a team. I am sure that if a Ligue 1 team plays against a team from Saudi Arabia, they will win. Perhaps not as easily as people think, but I believe so. The level in France is good. I watch the French league, and they have talent, they have young players, they can play football. Paris is a city with enormous potential. The level is there,” continued Hazard, in the podcast of his former Chelsea teammate, John Obi Mikel.

“Lille or nothing”

Then, Eden Hazard discusses the reasons why he did not join PSG in 2011. “Paris was the only club pressuring every summer to sign me when I was playing at Chelsea. I always said that my club in France was Lille. I never intended to go to another club.”

“I was always clear with PSG. There was no question of joining them. I love football. I love the supporters, and when I say something, I stick to my word. Money doesn’t come into it. It’s nice to have money, of course, but it’s not like I need that money. I don’t care,” concluded Eden Hazard.
