Cristiano Ronaldo finds himself once again entangled in the 2009 rape case, in which a woman had accused him of sexually assaulting her in a Las Vegas hotel room.

At that time, the Portuguese footballer had reportedly paid nearly €320,000 to secure the accuser’s silence. According to Sky Sport reports, Cristiano Ronaldo’s lawyers will have to defend their client in court once more.

The accuser has taken her case to an appeals court, seeking additional compensation from Ronaldo. It’s important to note that a U.S. judge had dismissed this request in 2022. Cristiano Ronaldo has consistently maintained that his relationship with his accuser was consensual.

The 2009 case had garnered significant media attention at the time, but it was resolved with the payment mentioned above to halt the legal proceedings. The accuser had signed a confidentiality agreement, but the case resurfaced in recent years with new legal actions. Cristiano Ronaldo continues to assert his innocence.
