According to Sport, Frenkie de Jong has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona: no departure, but a contract extension, despite PSG’s interest.

In recent days, Frenkie de Jong has been irritated by rumors surrounding his supposed desire to leave. PSG was reportedly willing to pay €60 million to sign him next summer. However, the Spanish press suggests that the door is already closing on that possibility.

According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, Frenkie de Jong has made a secret pact with FC Barcelona. The club’s sporting director, Deco, along with the player’s agent, discussed his future at a trendy restaurant in Barcelona. The aim was to dispel any misunderstandings, as rumors circulated that Barcelona might be willing to sell him to bolster its finances.

Deco allegedly confirmed that Frenkie de Jong is one of Barcelona’s “cornerstones.” Sport reports that the club has promised to extend his contract, which expires in 2026. Meanwhile, the player reportedly has no intention of leaving for now. Thus, an agreement has been reached between the two parties, much to PSG’s dismay.

During a press conference, Frenkie de Jong expressed his frustration with the rumors about him. He criticized the “lies” spread by the press, stating that he is fully happy at Barcelona and hopes to stay for many years. He also refuted the salary figures reported by the press regarding his alleged demands.
