Erling Haaland has broken his silence on his future, and while his words initially seemed reassuring, the English press fears a potential move to Spain.

“I am really happy, especially with the people around me. The manager, the directors, the board, it’s a great group of people. I am really happy, I have to say. I say it now, it will probably make the headlines. You never know what the future holds for us tomorrow but I am happy. You can write this down but you also have to write down everything I said before. I am happy,” stated Haaland.

These final words have understandably put England on edge. According to El Chiringuito, Haaland reportedly wants to join Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid.

The Daily Mirror warns of a real danger of his departure. “Erling Haaland casts fresh doubts over his Man City future. He has had an outstanding spell at Manchester City and has three years left on his contract, but he does not appear in a hurry to sign a new deal (…) He has admitted there is no guarantee he will stay at Manchester City long-term. Haaland is coveted by Spanish giants Real Madrid.”

Other major English newspapers echo similar sentiments. The Sun’s headline reads: “Haaland’s Flirtation with Madrid.” The Telegraph expresses concern: “Haaland Opens Door to Madrid,” while the Daily Express reports: “Haaland Opens Door to Madrid.”
