In a recent interview on the PoretCast show, Paolo Maldini, former iconic defender and technical director of AC Milan, revealed that the Lombard club had made considerable efforts to recruit Argentine forward Lionel Messi.
Messi to AC Milan was a possibility. The Italian club attempted to sign the Barcelona player in 2021. However, despite Milan’s efforts, Messi ultimately chose Paris Saint-Germain after leaving FC Barcelona.
“For about ten days (probably in 2021, editor’s note), we tried to bring Messi to Milan, but we realized it was impossible.”
“Now it’s too late, but a player like Messi is a spectacle for everyone. When I heard he might go to Inter, it saddened me,” confided Paolo Maldini.”
