Karim Benzema has broken his silence on his complicated situation in Saudi Arabia.

In an interview with GQ Middle East, Karim Benzema discussed his current situation. After several weeks of turmoil, the player has ultimately returned to al-Ittihad, although the conflict with his coach Marcello Gallardo seems far from resolved.

“Being in Saudi Arabia is a new challenge that I love, a long-term project in a Muslim country,” he explained. “Here in Saudi Arabia, I am not just a footballer; I am also an ambassador. I am here to bring in great European players soon, even though there are already great players in the Saudi league. Our challenge is to elevate it to the same level as the European Leagues,” he added.

“Time will tell what happens next, but I will be the one to choose when my career ends… Ultimately, I would like to be remembered as someone who started from the bottom and climbed to the top alone, despite all the obstacles I faced,” he said. So, no departure, at least not for the moment.
