Xavi, the coach of FC Barcelona, has decided to take the initiative by announcing his departure from the Catalan club at the end of the season. Players reportedly favor Luis Enrique as his replacement.

Xavi will leave Barcelona at the end of the season, following the defeat against Villarreal (3-5) in La Liga. Xavi hopes to breathe new life into Barcelona by initiating a new cycle. As a reminder, the Catalan club is eliminated from the Copa del Rey, qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16, and currently holds the 3rd place in the league standings, 10 points behind the leader, Real Madrid.

“Before you ask me the relevant questions, I would like to announce that I will not continue to coach Barça after June 30. We discussed it with Laporta and with the sports management. As a Culé, I think the club needs a change in dynamics.”

“As a Culé, thinking about the club and the players, I believe they will be liberated and calmer. As a club man, I think the best thing to do is to leave on June 30.”

“That being said, I will give everything I have for the remaining four months. I believe we can have a good season, and I hope the dynamics will change,” said Xavi.

According to the Spanish press, the locker room prefers… Luis Enrique, the current coach of PSG. While several names are circulating to replace Xavi on the FC Barcelona bench (Jürgen Klopp, Thiago Motta, Sergio Conceiçao, Imanol Alguacil), Sport claims that the current Paris Saint-Germain coach is the main preference of the Barça players for the next season.

However, the Catalan newspaper argues that a return of Luis Enrique to Catalonia would be nearly impossible. PSG will not let go of its coach.
