This Sunday, the Ligue 1 match scheduled between Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais was canceled due to an incident that occurred when the OL team bus arrived at the Stade Vélodrome.

It was a night of shame in Marseille as the OL team bus was pelted with projectiles, and Lyon’s coach, Fabio Grosso, was hit in the face and started bleeding. Following a crisis meeting, it was decided to cancel the match.

Referee François Letexier explained this decision during a press conference. This incident serves as another illustration of security issues in French football.

“A crisis meeting was held to gather the opinions of various stakeholders, especially following the injuries to several members of the Olympique Lyonnais staff. At the time of the crisis meeting, OL expressed their desire for the match not to take place,” the official stated. “The subsequent events will involve reports to the competent authorities, which will determine the course of action,” Letexier concluded.
