The French U21 national team, led by Thierry Henry, played a friendly match against South Korea at Stade Océane this Monday.

Unfortunately, the Bleuets had a disappointing performance, suffering a heavy defeat following their initial loss to the Austrian U21 team (2-0). At the end of the match, the French coach expressed his frustration with this second defeat during the November gathering. “We can’t afford to concede goals like that; the second and third are quite comical… Letting the ball go like that on a cross… No need to commit a foul for the free-kick,” he remarked.

“And the last goal speaks for itself. There is something called being realistic in football. When you create so many chances and don’t put them away, you give the opposing team the opportunity to punish you.”

“The free-kick was still beautiful, but the other two goals were avoidable. That’s it. We learn. It wasn’t difficult to do better than in Austria in terms of fighting spirit, but now the result is horrible. We created chances tonight, had one-on-ones, headers saved on the line, hit the crossbar… It was much more worrying in Austria,” he stated to L’Équipe.
