At the end of his contract in June 2021, Florian Thauvin decided to leave Olympique de Marseille to join Tigres de Monterrey. This decision was made while he was in a state of depression.

The current winger for Udinese, Florian Thauvin, did not have a positive experience in his last months at OM. The player admits that he left while going through a period of depression. “I was doing very well at that time (on the sports side, editor’s note), but I admit that mentally, I wasn’t. When I made the choice to go to Mexico, I wanted to find a bit more tranquility, less pressure, from both supporters and even the media.”

“In fact, I didn’t realize it myself. It was the people around me who told me to go see someone. And then, going to see this person, three months before I left OM, in the course of the conversation, I burst into tears. It did me good, and we resumed the conversation, and this lady told me at one point: ‘It’s a low stage, but you’re already at the stage of depression.’ I was shocked, but I told myself that at some point, I needed to take a step back to come back better,” explained Thauvin on Canal Football Club.
