Antoine Griezmann, teammate of João Félix at Atletico Madrid, has shed light on the struggles of the Portuguese forward to establish himself at the Colchoneros.
According to Griezmann, João Félix found it challenging to adapt to the physical and demanding style of play advocated by coach Diego Simeone. These difficulties led to the decision to loan João Félix to FC Barcelona, where the player is currently enjoying a promising start to the season.
“When you arrive here, you more or less know how the coach is, how the team is, and either you adapt and work for it, or things don’t work out for you. There have been times when João has been very good, worked very well, but you have to be consistent, and maybe there was a moment where he got tired, didn’t see himself here anymore, and that’s why he made the effort, and the club also made the effort, to let him leave the club,” said Griezmann.
