A shockwave has hit Marseille just days before Le Classique. Marcelino, the coach of Olympique de Marseille, has reportedly chosen to resign after only five Ligue 1 matchdays.

This decision comes in the wake of comments made by supporters towards the club’s leadership during a Monday meeting, which deeply affected and shocked the Spanish coach.

Marcelino is said to have informed his players of his decision this morning, not wanting to be a source of pressure or threats to his superiors throughout the season. OM’s management will now need to decide whether to accept Marcelino’s resignation request.

But that’s not all. According to Eurosport Spain, Pablo Longoria will step down from his position as president of OM after receiving death threats from some Ultras of the club. Sunday’s Clasico will be very tense, and PSG is being cautioned.
