Last week, the wild rumor of Zinedine Zidane’s arrival at Olympique de Marseille (OM) circulated. However, it seems there’s no truth to it.

Zizou as the coach of OM after a takeover by Saudi Arabia? It was the big story of last week. But recent rumors regarding a potential takeover of Olympique de Marseille by Saudi Arabia and the possible arrival of Zinedine Zidane as the head of the club have been denied by reliable sources in Saudi Arabia.

Bastien Borie, a correspondent in Dubai for the media outlet i24News, revealed that his sources in the country have categorically denied the information put forward by a journalist who mentioned Zidane’s arrival and a budget of €300 million.

According to Borie’s sources, while Saudi Arabia may have an interest in French football, the current owner of OM, Frank McCourt, has no immediate intention of selling the club.

As for Zinedine Zidane, it is widely understood that he aspires to take charge of the French national team once Didier Deschamps leaves his post, which could happen in the next 3 to 4 years. In the meantime, Riyadh wishes to offer Zidane the opportunity to manage a club in Saudi Arabia to capitalize on his reputation.
